Influence

Capital FM London’s Saturday Morning breakfast show presenters – Dave Berry, Lilah and George keep their audiences engaged by: talking with energy, playing different music genre tracks to keep their target audience entertained and talking about the latest news about celebs or upcoming movies.

These radio presenters are my influence because they talk with a lot of enthusiasm and are committed to keep their audience interested in their show. Moreover, they talk about the upcoming films and give their reasons for why they are excited for it to come out.

My groups aim for our radio show is to talk about upcoming films and keep our audiences entertained through music tracks or talking about interesting content.

Schedule

03/11/2016 – Radio show Practice rehearsal

10/11/2016 – Radio show Rehearsal

17/11/2016 – Recording Radio show

Jingles

To begin with, me and my team-mate Ethan used a zoom recorder to record my team mate’s (Spencer) voice as it will be used for the opening and closing jingles. Moreover, we edited the jingles on an apple mac using editing programmes like garage band and soundtrack pro.

Risk  Assessment

If my group brings in any liquid’s to the radio studio, it will be a risk because if any liquid spills it could potentially damage radio studio equipment like: mics, wires, headphones, computer and system unit’s. If the equipment stops working then it will cost a lot of money to get the equipment fixed or replaced.

Moreover, if anyone trips over any wires it will be a dangerous hazard because they could injure themselves or break any equipment.

Evaluation of First rehearsal

On 03/11/2016, me and my group practiced our rehearsal which lasted for 15 minutes. However, it was meant to be 30 minutes but me and my group didn’t accomplish  this task  due to time management.

Me and my group listened back to our 15 minute recording and were happy with what we accomplished during that our practice rehearsal. In addition, me and my group faced problems during our practice such as me forgetting to mute the mics when a track was playing and struggling with time management when talking about topics on our show.

To improve for our next rehearsal my group will do the following : gain more knowledge of radio studio equipment, organising time management and set up equipment before rehearsal.

Evaluation of Second Rehearsal

My radio group recorded our radio show on 10/11/2016 and  accomplished more than we did last time. Although me and my group didn’t accomplish  it in 30 minutes, our organisation was a lot more better as we stuck to our radio time schedule and talked about more topics. In addition, we played a lot more songs and recorded our show in 26 minutes.

We identified the following problems during our recording : time management and me forgetting to turn the mics on after a song finished.

To improve for my final recording, I will make sure to turn the mics on before a music track finishes and focus on my time management skills.

Evaluation of Final recording

My group recorded their final radio show and are pleased with our final product. Furthermore,  we had a printed schedule to organise my group’s time management when recording our final show. Me and my groups final recording lasted for 35 minutes although it was meant to be 30 minutes. The extra five minutes was due to a song playing for a bit longer.

In addition, I improved my technical knowledge in the radio studio and turned the mics on after a song finished playing. The printed schedule for the radio show also improved my time management skills as I knew how long I must play the song for and how long we must talk for about a topic we picked for our show.

To improve, for a future radio project I will continue to work on my time management skills and increase my technical knowledge too.

Overall,  my group is happy with the final product we recorded  and we hope to get better by learning more about radio and doing more projects.
