Evaluation of project

Q1 – Evaluation for my trailer. Discuss the product

  • How did it go?
  • Your overall thoughts

Answer

My client feedback said that the product me and my teammate produced felt fresh and different. I feel happy with this comment because it shows that When I work for another client I will be able to produce my own unique style of filmmaking.

I believe that during this project I had gained new skills since being the job role of a director. For example, I told my team mate what shots I wanted to be in our final product and he clearly understood what I wanted to achieve. This shows I am able to control the production of a product.

I also felt very happy with my final product to. I made four different edits to see what could be improved for the final product. I believe this skill I have gained will help me with future products because I will know how to edit properly and see what mistakes can be mended before the final product.

Question 2 – Your own professional practice during the production and your performance during the project.

  • Were you professional
  • How did you maintain professionalism through the project Give examples

Answer

I believe I was professional during this project and it continued to mature as I progressed through this project.

I maintained professionalism in this project when it came to going back to the drawing board.

For example, me and my teammate were originally going to do another play however our practice pitch did not go very well and my lecturer told me do another idea. I listened to his advice and we then decided to do Macbeth as our chosen product. As we progressed in this project me and my teammate clearly understood what we doing for our chosen product.

I also showed professionalism when giving instructions to my actors during the production. For example, I told my actor what action they needed to perform for a scene we were filming and they understood what I wanted to achieve.

Q3 – Strengths and Weaknesses of your product with examples

Answer

One of the biggest strengths of my final product was the VFX. My client said that he was very pleased that I created some VFX for my final product and felt as if one of the scenes I made felt like sin city. In addition, he said to keep on experimenting with VFX as it will expand my skills in VFX and filmmaking.

Another strength I identified was the teamwork. Me and Spencer motivated each other to do our best and be positive. We respected each others opinions and I felt like we accomplished a lot during this project as we progressed.

A weakness that I have identified was my clients response to parts of our technical production.

Firstly, he said that in our blood flower shot (VFX shot) he saw that we struggled to keep control the stability of the camera as it was handheld.

Secondly, he said the logo at the start was altered and he said that I needed to be careful with this change as he worked on a project and when he altered the companies logo he felt the wrath of the marketing team.

Thirdly, my client said that there was a 4 second blank in my video. He said that on social media if an audience isn’t interested in a product within a few seconds they will move on and this will put the screen time at risk.

Finally, he felt as if the sound design was good but could have been better if I added another layer and recommend I added an audio track underneath.

To improve these technical parts for my next project, I must focus on making the technical parts stand out for my target audience. In addition, I want to make the audio stand out more to and I will do this by focusing on creating a strong audio track for my audience

Q4 – Was my product successful? If I was to do this product again what changes would I make and why?

Overall, I do believe my final product was successful because my client was very happy with my final product I created and complimented that he was happy that we put in a technical part (VFX) as he had a strong interest in it himself.

If I was to do this project again I would want to make a clear decision of what I want to do for this project. To do this I will do a mind map of what products I want to make, do research of my chosen potential products and make a decision of what product I want to make.

Another change I would make for my final product would be to make the technical parts of my production stand out and focus on audio the most as I want this technical part to be the best it can be in the trailer.

Award Evaluation

Question 1 – if you collected an award, why did you win this?

I won an award for effort and perseverance for outstanding practice when responding to my client brief. I won this award because my lecturers told me that I have been in college extra early during the week we filmed our trailers since(nine o clock) in the morning. Furthermore, I had spent time in college during the half term editing my project and I was the only one there.

Question 2 – If there an award you would have liked to have won? How could have you improved to win this award?

An award I would have liked to have won was the best sound award. To improve so I can win this award for next time I must make the audio track stand out and experiment with different types of sound such as ambience.

Pitch Evaluation

RSC Pitch

How would you rate your communication skills?

Body Language

One of the most important things I did in my pitch was to make sure I had direct eye contact with my client. I believe this was an important part of my body language because maintaining eye contact with my client lets them know that I am communicating my pitch to them.

Language Used

I described and explained my ideas to my client when pitching. I described my idea to them so they understood what my idea was and explained why I choose a certain idea with my teammate. I communicated this way to my client because they would understand what I was talking about and understanding the reason for me choosing a certain idea for my product.

Confidence

I believe I was confident when pitching my product to my client as I informed them of why I choose my product and explained how it would appeal to my target audience.

How effective was your Powerpoint and structure of your presentation

I believe my Powerpoint was effective because my client I understood my chosen product and the structure of my presentation was broken down so they could understand my product in more detail.
