10/11/2016 – Radio Project LGC FM First Rehearsal

I had the job role of being presenter for my groups first radio project rehearsal. The role of the presenter in radio is to keep their target audience entertained and interested in their content.  Moreover, they control the sound console when broadcasting songs, adverts or news.

I feel that I performed well in my first rehearsal because I understood what sound level the songs need to be at when recording my show and control the mic volume when my guests were speaking. However, I did find some responsibilities  of being the presenter difficult such as time management. For example, I was broadcasting a song and realised the song had to fade out earlier according to the rehearsal schedule.

If I want to improve this skill for my second rehearsal, I need to read the schedule properly so I understand when to fade out a song and not create dead air when recording my groups show.

10/11/2016 – Radio Project LGC FM Second rehearsal

My radio group recorded our second rehearsal and it lasted for 26 minutes. I was the  presenter once again for the second rehearsal . To start with, our second rehearsal was a lot more better than first one we did because of the following reasons: better time management skills, more content to discuss, and playing more music tracks.

I still have to organise my  time management and technical skills as I still faced problems during my second rehearsal. For example, a few seconds of dead air was produced when I forgot to turn on the mics  for my  guests.

To improve for my final recording, I must turn on the mics after I have faded out a song.  Overall, my group is very happy with what we accomplished during our second rehearsal and are determined to do well in our final recording.

17/11/2016 – Final Recording for LGC FM Radio Project

My radio group recorded our final show radio show and we are very happy with what we accomplished .

To being with, I improved the following skills when I was the presenter: better organisation and time management  skills thanks to my teammate printing a proper show schedule and more knowledge of the sound console .

In addition, Overall I feel very happy with my groups final recording. I hope to improve my radio skills for my next radio project by setting myself the following targets : more knowledge of the sound console, learn how to fade out a song when recording and try to avoid creating dead air when fading out a song.

31/01/2017 – Recording and editing Jingles with team-mate

Me and my teammate (Spencer) recorded our jingles and speech package using his phone. Me and Spencer provided our voice’s for the speech based package and Spencer provided his voice for the jingles. the jingles were edited using garage band. To begin with, I told Spencer the instruments made our jingles upbeat and it will appeal to our target audience. In addition, me and Spencer each read a part from our speech based package. It was once again edited using instruments from garage band.

03/02/2017 – Comic Zone (Radio Project) 1st Rehearsal

My newest radio project I am  doing is called the Comic zone. The aim of our show is to help raise awareness about Comic Relief and what people can do to donate. The job role of a guest on a radio show is to talk about a topic or being interviewed by the presenter.

I felt that I performed well in this job role as I was able to talk a lot about  a topic on my group’s radio show. In addition, I waited patiently to express my opinion on a topic after my team-mate Spencer finished expressing his opinion. I felt this was a big improvement as in my previous project’s rehearsal’s I expressed my opinion to quickly and it caused a time clash on the show.

A target I am setting myself for my next rehearsal is to be able to express my opinion more on a topic. I felt that I didn’t have enough time to express my opinion because of my show’s time schedule. I will make this improvement by talking to the presenter (Spencer) and making sure I am able to have enough time to express my opinion on the show.

08/02/2017 – Comic Zone final show

Me and Spencer did our final show and it was broadcasted live on the internet and around college. We included more stuff in our final show such as: edited speech based package, more time to play song’s and games and interacted with our audience through Facebook live.

I once again had the job role of being the guest on our final show. I performed to the best of my ability when my group was broadcasting their show. I participated in a lot of discussions  and games. In addition,  I felt the pressure put on us allowed my group to push their abilities in radio.

A target I am setting my self for my next radio project is too understand audio levels in the radio studio. In this project we struggled to keep the audio levels at a proper level so our target audience could hear us.

I will accomplish this target by understanding how audio levels in the radio studio work and what levels they should be put at when I am helping broadcast a live show.
