On my trip to London, I was given the task of going to different places and creating camera shots which had to have a narrative meaning and mise en scene. These 10 camera shots each show different narratives and meanings.
Shot 1 (Leicester Square)
In this medium shot, the person’s facial expression looks confused and worried. The buildings,trees and statue create an atmosphere in which the person may feel trapped or lost as the square is massive
Shot 2 (M&M World)
This medium shot, shows two characters exchanging negative facial interaction at each other. The perspective of this shot shows that they could be enemies. Furthermore, their facial expressions show that they are frowning at each other indicating that they are rivals.
Shot 3 ( Trafalgar Square)
This medium Dutch tilt shot, shows the 1st character being shocked and disturbed as the 2nd character has collapsed. Moreover, the narrative of this photo shows that the 1st character has just arrived here and the 2nd character must have collapsed out a while ago.
Shot 4 (Trafalgar Square)
This low angle shot, shows the antagonist intimidating the protagonist. From the protagonist’s pov (point of view) he is shown to be powerless and weak. Moreover, the antagonist is shown to have more power and has defeated the male protagonist.
Shot 5 ( Admiralty Ark )
This medium long shot, shows the male character observing a prestigious monument. His body language shows that he is admiring monuments text .
Shot 6 (Buckingham Palace)
This close up shot, shows two characters having a conversation . Their facial expressions show that their conversation is positive and the atmosphere is lively. Furthermore, their body langue shows that they are happy talking to each other.
Shot 7 (St James Park)
This close up shot presents two characters who are best friends . The first character, is shown to be telling a joke to 2nd character while laughing . The background is also shown to be peaceful and quiet. The tree and lush green filed in the background too are often associated with peace and this is what makes the peaceful atmosphere in this background .
Shot 8 (Horse Guard Parade)
This long shot presents an isolated character surrounded by a lot of empty space. The male character looks frustrated which is shown by his body language. Furthermore, the narrative of this shot could be that the male character is lost and he does not like to be isolated.
Shot 9 (Parliament Square)
This over the shoulder shot presents two characters arguing. The camera over the 1st character’s shoulder shows the 2nd character being in control of the argument and having a lot of power. Moreover, he is shown to be tall and his hand gestures suggest he is getting his point across while arguing showing he is dominating this argument.
Shot 10 ( Westminster Bridge)
This close up shot shows the male protagonist being upset or angry with himself. The narrative of this shot could mean the male protagonist is unhappy with his life and ran away from home as a result. He covers his face indicating he regrets running away from home . The distant buildings in the background show that he can still have hope as he could still have many opportunities now that he is in a big city.
Shot 11 ( The South Bank)
This medium shot shows a male protagonist staring out at the river and big buildings. The character looks isolated and lonely while walking down the bank while looking at the buildings.
