Reflection of show
To begin with, my group did their best when we recorded our show. It took a bit of time to prepare our show as we had to fix technical problems with the sound desk and mini mac.The first round went very well, the VT operator (Kieron) understood how this round was structured and knew how long each film clip lasted for. The pa (Meghan) guided the director with the timings and helped my group a lot during the recording of our show.
The director and vision mixer worked very well together to create good transition effects when a VT was being shown or when other title sequences were shown. The second round also went very well too and we had no technical problems during this part of the show. After the second round finished, I was invited onto the panel to give a talk about a challenge I did that helped raise money for comic relief.
My VT showed the audience and production crew what I got up to during my challenge and how interacted with people. I felt that the interview was very well organised and the presenter (Sam) asked detailed questions that allowed me to explain to the audience why I decided to choose this challenge to help raise money and it helped me break down more information for them too.
Overall, I felt my group did a great job when recording our show. The production crew worked very well to sort out the set and help out with any technical problems. The presenter’s did a good job presenting the show and understood the structure too. For another TV project, I would like to organise the timings of our show and learn other job roles in the TV studio.
My performance
My job role (sound operating) was an important job role during my group’s show. It was important because my group’s show was based around guessing different types of audio and I needed to put the sound desk levels at a balanced volume. Overall, I thought my job role went very well and I improved my knowledge of the sound desk from the last TV show I worked for another group’s TV project. There were no sound problems during my groups rehearsal and the audio for microphones and VT’s was balanced during the recording of our show.
Group Performance
I believe my group performed to the best of their ability when we were recording our TV show. We struggled to set up our show as we had a lot of technical problems in the sound gallery and we didn’t have our scripts in our show too. However, the production team helped fixed the problem and our TV show went very well. My team members understood the job roles they were doing and performed at a great standard when our show was recording.
Strengths and Weaknesses of my group’s show
These were the following the strengths our my groups show: the production team and the fundraising VT. These are the strengths of my group’s show because the production team worked well to make sure the production went well and there were no technical problems that interpreted the show. Furthermore, the fundraising VT was with the audience and it gave them and understanding of the challenge I did. It also showed them what I got up to during my challenge.
Theses were the following weaknesses of my group’s show: organisation skills and sound technical problems. These are the weaknesses of my group’s show because before we began our production we struggled to organise the production as we didn’t have the script for the presenters. Moreover, before our TV show began recording we had a lot of technical problems in the sound gallery as the audio levels for the microphones wouldn’t work properly and this audio problem also caused problems for the sound desk.
Improvements for another TV show
If I were to do my TV show again I would like set myself the following targets to improve for next time: thinking outside the box with creative ideas, different job roles and better organisation skills.
I have set myself these targets because thinking outside the box will allow me to expand my ideas and creativity. Doing different job roles such as: floor manager, vision mixer and PA will increase my skills in TV production. Finally, to improve my organisation skills I will make to do a check list for a production to check my group has everything they need before we record our show.
