Short Film trailer
I had the role of being an actor and cinematographer when filming a short film trailer. The role of a cinematographer (Director of photography) is to shoot the film and is in charge of camera operators and lighting. The role of an actor in a film is to play a character and is one of the most important people when making a film.
Cinematography role
I felt that I did very well when doing some cinematography for the short film trailer because I had the opportunity to create different camera shots that make the audience understand the character and mise en scene.
Moreover, I learned why I had to create certain shots as the director had a vision of what he wanted in the short film trailer and it made me understand of what he wanted to achieve for the film’s cinematography.
I had positive feedback from the director and was happy with the camera shots I created as it showed the director that I understood his vision for some of the scenes.
If I want to improve in this job role, I must experiment with different camera techniques when filming and asking the director what I would like to achieve when filming.
My targets to improve my role in a future short film trailer project will be as follows: experiment with different camera techniques, creating better and effective photos and creating a cinematography mind map that will allow to create more ideas for scenes in a short film trailer.
Acting role
I felt that did well when doing this job role as it allowed me to understand how an actor portrays a character and understand what performance the screenwriter wanted to see when I was playing the character.
I had positive feedback from the director and liked my performance in my short film trailer.
I feel that I do not need to set myself any improvements or targets for this job role as I have enough skills to do this role and feel that my production skills are a lot more better than my acting skills because I perform better when I am doing production roles and have a lot more skills in production work.
