Pokemon Sun and Moon Anime Ep 129 Review – Wow… What an episode…

Warning! This episode contains massive spoilers for the Alola League arc so please read at your own risk!

Welcome back to my review of the Pokemon Sun and Moon anime! Due to the amount of jam packed action in this episode I will breaking down my review into subheadings so you can easily understand the episode in its entierity and giving my thoughts too.

Overall Plot

The Alola league has now started! a huge twist this time round will be all 151 partcipants competing in a battle royale! The remaining 16 will advance to the next round!

Having Each Other’s Back

The gang look out for each other during the battle royale such as Lillie helping Kiawe to defeat Salamance! The best moment was Ash and Gladion fighting along side each other to help defeat their opponents! I really liked it when both of them and their pokemon looked at each other. To me, this mean they are eager to battle each other and don’t want to miss that oppunity!

Ash and Pikachu’s Peformance

Ash and Pikachu were brillant in the royale! Pikachu managed to sucessfully beat two pokemon at once and repeated this again! He also did well to hold his own against Mimikyu and other Pokemon too! No doubt Pikachu is stronger than ever and will do really well in his upcoming matches!

The rest of the cast’s peformance

Everyone else used one of their Pokemon during the royale. For example, Kiawe used Turtantor and Guzma used a Scizor. They all did really well!

However, Kiawe really shined in this episode with Turtantor as it defeated Magmortar and Electrive at the same time! And, used its Z-move to defeat Metagross which was the last remaining Pokemon in the royale. I look forward to seeing Kiawe’s matches which show being at his best with his Pokemon!

Strange forshadowing for an upcoming match?

If you listen closely in the battle against Eevee and Salazzle a crunch sound can be heard after Eevee gets hit by dragon pulse. It seems Eevee broke one of its legs and it was doing its best to conceal the pain while being reassured by Ilima. I have theory that this is forshadowing that Ilima will lose in the next round as it will be hard for his Eevee to battle with a broken leg.

I could be wrong… However, this is a very strange thing to happen to a Pokemon in a league… I look forward to seeing how this situation progresses.

The Remaning 16!

The last 16 standing in the royale will advance to the next round! The match ups are as follows:

  1. Ash vs Faba
  2. Lillie vs Gladion
  3. Lana vs Mallow
  4. Iliima vs Guzma
  5. Kiawe vs Acerola
  6. Sophocles vs Mina
  7. Hau vs Samson Oak
  8. Jessie vs James

I really look forward to seeing how these matches turn out!

The most bizzare part of this episode?!

The only weird part of this episode was Mallow choosing Shaymin as her partner to battle and not Tsareena? This was a very odd choice as ever since Shaymin stayed with Mallow after the Poni Island arc it has not done any sort of battling. It would a lot more sense to use Tsareena as she has done pokemon battling during the series!

Once again, the anime sometimes makes the most bizzare choices that don’t make sense! Oh well! I can look past this and I look forward to seeing how Shaymin battles in future episodes.

My honset opinion on this episode

I highly reccomend you consider watching this episode as it is a great way to start the Alola league! It contains: Brilliant Battles, Awsome intreactions between the characters and most of all its enjoyable!

Next Week’s Episode (14/07/2019) – Mallow and Lana! Super Full-Force Friendship Battle!!

The 1st Rounds begin! The following battles will unfold as seen in the preview! Ash vs Faba, Guzma vs llima, Hau vs Samson Oak and Lana vs Mallow. I cant wait to see how this episode turns out!

Leave your comment and let me know what you thought about this episode! I would love to hear it! As always see on the next review!
